Another note on the Paralympics

Further to "What the Paralympics mean to us parents of special-needs children", I want to add that TV broadcasting of the Paralympics is still elusive over here. But whenever we are graced with a brief interval of coverage, it's been exhilarating. The enthusiasm of the commentators and spectators, on a par with those of the regular Olympics, is testimony to the achievements of disability activists. When else do people with disabilities enjoy any notice? Here, that only happens when they take to the streets to demonstrate against their humiliating living conditions. And then it's only if they stop the traffic.
